Earthsongwave Conversations

Earth's WildSong Lovers Following my previous 'Confluence in Sound Waves' reflections, l 'm writing to invite you to this never before heard gathering arising from Earthsongwave Dawn Chorus this year: to meet each New Moon; to listen and feel together through the year for such notes Earth is singing in this liminal space between old cycles and new risings. I imagine this could be something we are all listening/attuning for in our own ways already. This particular offering is to wonder what may arise in opening a sacred space for being together around the Earth for 2 hours a month. To hold/share time to be curious; to listen for whatever wild sounds, notes, songs, words, want to be voiced, moved, brought forth through us. What if specific patterns and notes, or who knows what/who, may become visible/audible. What might the effect of such sacred listening and sounding be, and what if such a way, for example, through the Deep Imagination, through making our offerings, makes a difference in this Holy moment. You may also know other humans who might be interested. If so, please invite them in. If you are unfamiliar with Council it is a sacred space to be together in circle (or imaginar-e circle) as a way of remembering more deeply who we are in a world otherwise steeped in fragmented mirrors, to listen and speak from the heart. A virtual talking piece is passed on from one to another around the world; only the person holding the talking piece will speak as authentically as we can. The deeper each of us are willing to show up, the clearer the mirror and the possibility of opening/being/see through even the mirror to deeper mysteries. How deeply are you longing to show up? How deeply are you willing to be surprised at what comes spilling from your lips, from Earth's lips?  The Council will start at 1pm BST which means this is early in the USA and late in Australia. I'm hoping the time works for one day a month, and l'm also willing to explore different times in future to make possible as many people to participate. The first Earthsongwave Council is in just a week so do let me know if this offering is something that sings to you and respond either through link below or on a previous Earthsongwave Wild Orchestra thread, let's say by Sunday 19th April. Do let me know if you are 'in' but not able to make Thursday's date with Earth, Sun, New Moon, and other WildEarthsong folk and you can be held in this Earthsongwave New Moon Council stave for future dates. Also let me know if you have any particular ideas or ways your Muse would like to sing/voice/move here. I will be sending further details before we meet. Note there are already people gathering here from Australia, UK and USA. As part of Earthsongwave Dawn Chorus, this Earthsongwave New Moon Council is free as a gift to nourish Earth.  Love, Love, Love Wendy “A few minutes ago every tree was excited, bowing to the roaring storm, waving, swirling, tossing their branches in glorious enthusiasm like worship. But though to the outer ear these trees are now silent, their songs never cease.” John Muir Image: Earthsongwave Dawn Chorus, Doug Van Houten (C)

Following this year's Earthsongwave Dawn Chorus, here are some reflections and an offering on this day of the Super Pink Moonrise in the year known as 2020 in the Western world. For your information, the website received 417 new visitors in addition to people revisiting and over 1,000 pages visited. The song is now Earthwaving to people in 52 countries around Earth over these three Earthsongwave Dawn Chorus years. We were offered a variety of beauty Guest Blogs from Bell Selkie in Wales, Jenni York and Lucy Sacred Earthheart in Australia, and Erica Rhinehart in USA which can be read anytime at https://www.earthsongwave.com/blog. Many humans have responded with songs, posts or emails, some are on the Earthsongwave Dawn Chorus 2020 Facebook page. Of course, since Earthsongwave Dawn Chorus is a self-organising invitation humans are joining in with our own songs in gratitude, praise, prayer, and celebration; in participation wherever we are in our own ways knowing we are part of a bigger song without notifying this particular score.

Each year l experience a deepening in holding this particular composition; l hear more deeply what is asking to be sung by/from me at this time. Maybe, like Lucy, you do too. I'd love to hear. This year l have a sense of three particular ways that speak to the way of the Deep Imagination or James Hillman's 'Psyche the size of the Earth':

~ what if Earthsongwave Dawn Chorus continues to spread infectiously around our miracle planet Earth. What might an impact be in our world? What magic may occur in the mysteries between the human and 'other-than-human' world.

~ what if singing is part of creating our healthy immune system, both human and Earth. On a feeling/sensing/resonating way, is this something that we instinctually know is true from the Mystic we all are when we open to a remembering place in each of us? It is something l feel/sense/resonate with, for sure. What if singing today is a way of strengthening our own immune systems and that of Earth's as we move towards singing our own unique and true note in the Multi-verse; both healing and animating Earth life.

~ Deepening in with the third time around Earth and feeling/sensing with growing sound waves, l'm with the possibility now of an even deeper gathering under the song. Earthsongwave Dawn Chorus may be once a year on 1 April, however, Earthsongwave is also a symbol being part of inviting an AncientNew daily way of living; being human participating in and with this miracle blue-green-pearl planet; an invitation for life, healing and RememberingAwakening conversations and songs. Who and what may be remembered and awakened in us all and in the world? I could invite some inklings about this, but would rather leave an open space for wondering "(...) a small opening into the new day/which closes the moment you begin your plans. (...)" (David Whyte, What to Remember When Waking), for not knowing, for being altogether curious. As such, l'm inviting this coming year, at this particular time, a twelve new moon on-line Zoom Council, a confluence for deeper listening voices to enter and hold sacred space for Earthsong to enter further. The first Earthsongwave Dawn Chorus New Moon Council will be on 23 April. The time will depend on who of us around Earth will be arriving. If you are feeling called to participate in such a monthly Ceremony please contact me before 15 April. You are also welcome to arrive throughout the year. If you need information on what Council is, please contact me.

Meantime may we find ourselves before the Super Pink Moon tonight spontaneously singing never-heard-before songs. May we find surprise-sounding poetry spilling from our longing, loving mouth before her luminous, numinous presence.... and "Let your note be clear./Don't try to end it./Be your note. (Rumi)

Be well~

Approaching Earthsongwave Dawn Chorus 2020; Inspired by and in collaboration with Earthsongwave Dawn Chorus. Join the Global Song April 1, 2020

Here in Victoria, Australia as we approach the third Earthsongwave Dawn Chorus, I recognise that the last two times I have followed the invitation to sing, drum, pray it has coincided with a dying. The first time, my mother in law had just drawn her last breath, after a long life tussling with the experience of being an Englishwoman transplanted to a country she found unwelcoming and uncomfortable. Last year, as I sat quietly by the river, I held in my heart the spirit of a dear soul sister as she prepared to leave the earthly plane.

One more sweep around the Sun….What is dying within me this time round, I wonder.

Last year I recorded a poem-song, a gesture towards claiming the name I received during a Quest amidst the sandstone canyon walls of Wollemi National Park….Sacred Earthheart is my name, I sang, the words shy and awkward in my mouth.

The Quest was an ecstatic time after which I found myself plunged into the wound, wrestling with grief and guilt, anger and unworthiness. Surrendering the best I could, writing my way through, I explored the facets of my aching heart, my own personal tragedy.

In my depths, there dwells a creature-monster who has been with me since childhood, inspiring terror, providing comfort in equal measure. In a ritual to enter the Underworld and meet this character, I was surprised and gratified by a truth floating up from the darkness: I wanted to protect my mother. Despite my rage and disappointment with my real life mother’s not-so-great mothering, deep down I felt that she, like all females, all vulnerable people, animals, our precious Earth itself, was under threat and in need of loving protection.

The name of the monster: Lucy. Beginning the process of embracing this earth goddess-hag, led me to the next iteration: Lucy Sacred Earthheart is my name…

Wendy, in introducing this year’s Dawn Chorus, asks: What if this Earth and Earth Community is held by song; perhaps song of love, song of Eros, a different kind of gravity that holds us all where we can only fall in and down to some mysterious deeper place?

I want to sing the song of Lucy Sacred Earthheart - a wild hot lonely scared tender magical song. And yet my fear says: Don’t do it. You cannot afford to feel so much. What would this mean for your carefully constructed, as safe as possible, half existence.

A tree reminds me of the shimmering vibrating interconnectedness of all. Placing my hand on its trunk, I am drawn in and down by the thrumming, booming, whispering, shouting pulse of the tree, the wind, sky, of earth itself...Can you feel my heartbeat, baby?

It is a fearful thing to join one’s heartbeat with that of the Mother, the implications are great, the questions profoundly challenging...Can I love the Earth as much as I love my own life? Given my flawed efforts at loving myself and other humans, can I navigate my fears, anxieties and defences to establish a relationship of trust and mutual support with the Earth? Can I live the truth of interdependence as my best prayer and offering and my best chance of a rich and meaningful life?

Lucy has spent decades dwelling in the dark, afraid to show her face, waiting for me to die sufficiently to be able to resonate with and to integrate her power. Heart in mouth, I gather about myself the cloak of tears and joy, all my attempts and failures at being a more loving and wise human being.

Earth is calling. Lucy is calling. Inviting us into the muck and the grime. From a hidden mysterious place where molten rock shifts and seethes, where underground rivers wend their secret ways, where crystals and gems twinkle and shine in the murk. The Earth is calling her children, pleading with them to wake up, to love with abandon, to take up the cosmic earth beat and to turn our remarkable intelligence to Earth-honouring ways. Earth heart is beating with a wild and crazy longing for all her creatures, reminding us of our good animal instincts, our indigenous be-longing, our multi faceted hearts.

I’m coming Lucy...Opening the latch, stepping into the abyss, I am joining myself with the dark Earth goddess, the One who asks us to Feel Ev-er-y-thing, to relinquish shame, to fight for the natural world and to be prepared to die and die again.

Thank you for hearing my song. Blessings on the 2020 Earthsongwave Dawn Chorus. May we all sing with heart, knowing that our songs are heard and echoed by the Earth - together singing our world back to rude health and dynamic balance.
